• Emergency Closing Make-Up Days 

    The emergency closing day plan includes a combination of flexible instructional days and traditional emergency closing days, with a traditional emergency closing day (snow day) reserved for the first winter weather closure of the year.     Emergency Closing Day Plan for the 2022-2023 School Year:

    • Day 1: June 14, 2023: December 15, 2022
    • Day 2: Flexible Instructional Day: December 23, 2022
    • Day 3: Flexible Instructional Day
    • Day 4: Flexible Instructional Day
    • Day 5: Flexible Instructional Day
    • Day 6: Flexible Instructional Day
    • Day 7: June 15, 2023
    • Day 8: June 16, 2023
    • Day 9: June 20, 2023
    • Day 10: June 21, 2023

    Cycle days will advance as usual on flexible instructional days; however, students will follow a modified class schedule with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction. 

    Kindergarten Schedule:

    Kindergarten students will meet for one, 30-minute live synchronous session for language arts or math:

    • 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: AM kindergarten language arts or math
    • 10:45 AM - 11:15 AM: PM kindergarten language arts or math

    Asynchronous work may be completed as needed during the remainder of the school day.

    Elementary School Schedule (Grades 1-4):

    The elementary schedule will include two, 30-minute live, synchronous sessions for language arts and math:

    • 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: language arts or math
    • 10:15 AM – 10:45 AM: language arts or math (whichever was not held during the first class period)

    Special areas and support teachers will post learning activities for the classes they would have had during the regular school day on the six-day cycle.

    Asynchronous work may be completed as needed during the remainder of the school day.

    Middle/High School Schedule (Grades 5-12):

    Middle and high school teachers will post assignments in Schoology between 7:25 AM – 9:00 AM and classes will meet synchronously on a modified schedule through Microsoft Teams:

    • 1st Period:    9:30 AM – 9:50 AM
    • 2nd Period:   10:00 AM – 10:20 AM
    • 3rd Period:   10:30 AM – 10:50 AM
    • 4th Period:   11:00 AM – 11:20 AM

    Lunch Break

    • 5th Period:   12:00 PM – 12:20 PM
    • 6th Period:   12:30 PM – 12:50 PM
    • 7th Period:   1:00 PM – 1:20 PM
    • 8th Period:   1:30 PM – 1:50 PM
    • 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Asynchronous work as needed

       
    Frequently Asked Questions

    Do I need to prepare my child's District laptop or iPad for virtual meetings? 
    Yes. Students will need their District device connected to WiFi and Global Protect for Internet access. District laptops connect to Global Protect automatically. District iPads need an additional login. Directions for preparing the iPad are here

    How does my child connect to virtual meetings?
    To access and join virtual meetings, students will need to log into Schoology and Microsoft Teams on their District laptop or iPad with their Office 365 accounts. For assistance with Office 365 credentials, please contact familyhelpdesk@giubbottimoncler2011.com.
     
    Students will navigate to their courses in Schoology to find each teacher's virtual meeting link posted on the Materials page. Once students click/tap on the meeting link, Microsoft Teams will launch and prompt the student to join the meeting. Click here for an instructional video on virtual meeting access for grades K-4.     What if my child cannot use a District laptop or iPad on a flexible instructional day?
    Students may attend virtual meetings from any Internet browser on a personal device such as a laptop, tablet, or phone. Directions for connecting via a non-District device are here

    Where can I receive technical or login credentials assistance?
    Parents may email familyhelpdesk@giubbottimoncler2011.com. IT support staff will reply in a timely manner. 
     
    What if my child needs assistance or has a question about an assignment during a flexible instructional day?
    All teachers will be available during the school day to support students and families through email and Schoology.

    How will daily attendance be taken on a flexible instructional day? 
    Daily attendance in grades K-4 will be taken during their first virtual meeting time.
    Students in grades 5-8 will record their daily attendance by visiting their Homeroom course in Schoology.
    Conestoga parents will contact CHS Attendance Office to report the reason for their absence if their child is unable to participate in a virtual instruction.
     
    What if my family has an individual circumstance that prevents my child from being able to complete schoolwork during a flexible instructional day?
    If any student cannot complete the day’s assignments due to an individual family circumstance, please email your school’s attendance inbox to report your child as absent.

    What if there are widespread power outages during a flexible instructional day and my child cannot log into Schoology or Microsoft Teams?
    In the event of widespread power outages throughout the District, TESD may determine that a flexible instructional day needs to become a traditional emergency closing day.

    Do flexible instructional days need to be made up at the end of the school year like traditional emergency closing days?
    No. Flexible instructional days are considered instructional days. Instructional days do not need to be made up at the end of the year.
